Vehicle Tips
According to recent studies, 5 percent of all motor vehicle fatalities are clearly caused by automobile maintenance neglect.
-
Vehicle Tips
The cooling system should be completely flushed and refilled about every 24 months. The level, condition, and concentration of coolant should be checked. (A 50/50 mix of anti-freeze and water is usually recommended.)
-
Vehicle Tips
Never remove the radiator cap until the engine has thoroughly cooled. The tightness and condition of drive belts, clamps and hoses should be checked by a pro.
-
Vehicle Tips
Change your oil and oil filter as specified in your manual, or more often (every 3,000 miles) if you make frequent short jaunts, extended trips with lots of luggage or tow a trailer.
-
Vehicle Tips
Replace other filters (air, fuel, PCV, etc.) as recommended, or more often in dusty conditions. Get engine drivability problems (hard stops, rough idling, stalling, diminished power, etc.) corrected at a good shop.
-
Vehicle Tips
A dirty windshield causes eye fatigue and can pose a safety hazard. Replace worn blades and get plenty of windshield washer solvent.
-
Vehicle Tips
Have your tires rotated about every 5,000 miles. Check tire pressures once a month; let the tires cool down first. Don't forget your spare and be sure your jack is in good condition.
-
Vehicle Tips
Check your owner's manual to find out what fuel octane rating your car's engine needs then buy it.
-
Vehicle Tips
Keep your tires inflated to the proper levels. Under-inflated tires make it harder for your car to move down the road, which means your engine uses more fuel to maintain speed.
-
Vehicle Tips
Lighten the load. Heavier vehicles use more fuel, so clean out unnecessary weight in the passenger compartment or trunk before you hit the road.
-
Vehicle Tips
Use the A/C sparingly. The air conditioner puts extra load on the engine forcing more fuel to be used.
-
Vehicle Tips
Keep your windows closed. Wide-open windows, especially at highway speeds, increase aerodynamic drag and the result is up to a 10% decrease in fuel economy.
-
Vehicle Tips
Avoid long idling. If you anticipate being stopped for more than one minute, shut off the car. Contrary to popular belief, restarting the car uses less fuel than letting it idle.
-
Vehicle Tips
Stay within posted speed limits. The faster you drive, the more fuel you use. For example, driving at 65 miles per hour (mph) rather than 55 mph, increases fuel consumption by 20 percent.
-
Vehicle Tips
Use cruise control. Using cruise control on highway trips can help you maintain a constant speed and, in most cases, reduce your fuel consumption.
-
Vehicle Tips
Keep your engine tuned. A fouled spark plug or plugged/restricted fuel injector can reduce fuel efficiency as much as 30 percent.
-
Vehicle Tips
Inspect the engine's belts regularly. Look for cracks or missing sections or segments. Worn belts will affect the engine performance.
-
Vehicle Tips
Have the fuel filter changed every 10,000 miles to prevent rust, dirt and other impurities from entering the fuel system.
-
Vehicle Tips
Change the transmission fluid and filter every 15,000 to 18,000 miles. This will protect the precision-crafted components of the transmission/transaxle.
-
Vehicle Tips
Inspect the suspension system regularly. This will extend the life of the vehicle's tires.

Brakes, near Port Charlotte, FloridaFrom start to finish, Marco and his team at A&E Auto Repair were a God send. When my fiancée and I first started calling around the area to seek help with a repair, I wasn't met with such kindness and professionalism... until I called A&E. The woman who I spoke with on the phone (I wish I could remember her name) was very personable and reassuring, a breath of fresh air. She said that the staff at A&E never keeps their customers in the dark about prices, options, and the diagnoses of their cars. That proved true, and then some! I explained what issues I had been experiencing with the car, and recieved a call back from Marco within the hour! He was able to squeeze me in, same day, to start the diagnosis despite having a full schedule. He was very honest about the condition of my car, which was not great. I knew it might have been bad, as I had to put it off for quite a while after running into some financial difficulty this past year. Marco truly cared about getting me back on the road, and safely, ASAP. The repair was priced very reasonably, but my fiancé and I were unfortunatley going to have to put it off until a future date. Marco and his wife blessed us beyond belief.. and mentioned the work that they do with the non-profit, Autos 4 The Needy. They truly lent a hand in such a difficult and stressful time... and now we can focus on working, catching up, and preparing for the wedding this year! If you are looking for a locally owned auto shop that truly cares- about your car and beyond-this is the place. We felt welcomed from start to finish, and I had no idea that we would be met with such grace, compassion, and assistance when we felt defeated. Truly the best experience at any auto repair shop that we have had! Thank you so much Marco, your wonderful wife, and the knowledgeable employees! My car drives smoothly now, and our stress has been lifted. This place is a local gem, and it was such an eye opener that there are still amazing, reliable, and family oriented businesses in our community. Top tier customer service, integrity, and compassion. A&E Auto Repair is the only spot we'll be visiting for future services, and we are so happy to have found them! -Hudson & ToniToni Ciarcia, 03/13/2026

We had to have our van towed to A&E for a starter that needed replacement. They serviced quickly also did an oil change that was needed. Cost was up front and also gave me a list of things I should consider to get done for maintenance. Was very happy with service and the family atmosphere.

After a collision of flying debris on I-75 with some major damage to the front end and motor, A&E Auto Repair had my car for a little over three weeks. I had been there before for usual maintenance but this was the first time for a major issues. I am very, very pleased with the staff, the support, the communication with me and my insurance company and the work done on my car which is an accessible vehicle. Being without it was tough but now I have confidence that it will work well for me into the future. I will definitely go back to A & E for future work and encourage others to do so as well.

I set up an appointment with A&E auto repair for Oct 13 to replace right front outer CV boot on my 2011 Honda Pilot current mileage is over 235 thousand miles they recommend I replace the axle instead because of the high mileage. I was thinking of replacing the axle before I took the vehicle A&E the price was reasonable and the work was done promptly it's been a week since repair was done and I am very satisfied thank you A&E
